Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University (formerly known as Garhwal University) is a public university located at Srinagar town in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand state in northern India. Named after Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna, the university is residential cum affiliating with jurisdiction over Garhwal district of the region. It is situated on the banks of the river Alaknanda in the mid-Himalayas.

It was established on 1 December 1973 as Garhwal University. In 1989, it was renamed as Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University. In 2009, it became a Central University. The Academic Council is the principal academic body of the University and exercise general supervision over the academic policies of the University.

G.S. Paramasivaiah (former student of the Nobel laureate CV Raman) was the first principal of the Karnatak Science College. He was also the secretary of KLE Society Belgaum. He played an important role in founding of Karnatak University.

In 1947, the government of Bombay Province made attempts to establish a university in Bombay Karnataka. As per the resolution No. 7914 of Education and Industries Department, the government of Bombay, a committee was constituted on April 17, 1947 to make recommendations regarding form, scope, constitution and jurisdiction of a university for Karnataka (meaning Bombay Karnataka because Bombay Karnataka was a southern part of Bombay Province). Lingayat educationalists like Prof. G.S. Paramasivaiah along with Prof S.S. Basavanal and Dr. S.C Nandimath were associated with the committee. The Karnatak University came into existence in 1949.

Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology is in Udaipur city in Rajasthan state in India. The government of Rajasthan founded this university by the bifurcation of Rajasthan Agriculture University, Bikaner on November 1, 1999. The idea of founding a University in the district was mooted by the various organizations, notably by the Regional Education Association, Midnapore, headed by Professor A.K.Gayen(Born: February 01, I919 and died February 07, 1978). of IIT, www.vidyasagar.ac.in Kharagpur.Anil Kumar Gayen was arenowned scholar in the fields of Mathematics and Statistics. He was awarded Ph.D degree in 1950 in Statistics from the University of Cambridge. Professor Gayen obtained his Ph.D under the supervision of Prof. Henry Ellis Daniels, www.vidyasagar.ac.in  F.R.S.,then President of the Royal Statistical Society, U.K. and the co-formulator of the famous Parry-Daniels Map. Gayen was Professor of Statistics and held the chair of the head of Mathematics Department at the Indian Institute of Technology at Kharagpur during 1954-1978. The Committee was also of the opinion that the new University would develop on the lines suited to the needs of this backward area.
